Celeb Hot Spots on South Beach

Tourists of the Buena Vista Miami Florida area interested in checking out popular celebrities on vacation needn’t look any further. The South Beach region in particular is a haven for spotting stars and engaging in random celebrity encounters.

For one, the Setai, a beach hotel, and the surrounding area is a top spot to check out celebs visiting Miami. The actual hotel property is a favorite locale of patrons including Craig Robins, Britney Spears, Madonna, U2, Paris Hilton, and Lindsay Lohan. All of whom have been seen nearby relaxing and enjoying themselves. The hotel also serves as a musical venue and artists, namely Jennifer Hudson as well as Hilary Duff have performed for adoring crowds. Also, the Setai includes a recording studio built by none other than Lenny Kravitz. Artists ranging from rappers like Jay-Z to indie superstar Cat Power have been known to have recorded there.

Speaking of Lenny Kravitz. He designed the Florida Room, a hotel nightclub that has hosted not only Kravitz, but Sean Paul, Ludacris, Wyclef Jean, and Grace Jones. Not only that, but members of the Miami Heat have been known to stop in for a drink or two during off season, at the Rose Bar. Other stars you might see around included movie icons such as George Clooney and Sandra Bullock. Clooney stayed in the Delano Hotel while making ‘Up In The Air’. Other celeb fans include Chris Rock, Owen Wilson, Tobey Maguire, Leonardo DiCaprio, and once again, Beyonce.

If you find yourself a little closer to the Ritz-Carlton South Beach you might happen to run into the likes of ‘Jackass’ star, Johnny Knoxville. The hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons may also be lurking nearby, not to mention Nick Lachey, Marc Anthony, Jennifer Lopez, and Vivica A. Fox.

Yet another hotbed of celeb sightings in nearby Nobu, the sushi restaurant co-owned by Robert De Niro. If you are lucky you just might see Tara Reid, Naomi Campbell, or Jessica Alba.

If in search of more cutting edge celebrities, one could do worse than the Gansevoort South. Khloe Kardashian and former beau Reggie Bush …

Newsworthy Names: Russell Wilson

Being from the Seattle area, previously living in an apartment just a couple blocks from the stadium, I would have to say the newsworthy name of today is Russell Wilson. The story of this Seahawks team has been a long and deserving one, with diehard fans that never let the love for the team die, birthing the 12th man. Fan participation and excitement has been remarkable, with energy exploding into unprecedented fanfare. It has been easy to love this team, especially the quarterback who is already most people’s favorite player, but Russell has more than a good throwing arm in his arsenal.

Russell Wilson has shown to be one of the essential cogs in the machine that dominated the 2013 football season followed by the Super Bowl XLVIII victory over the Broncos. Wilson’s on field essence of teamwork and dependability is no joke and carries over to the charity side as well. Many times, on the local news, children suffering from chronic conditions in the hospital were treated to regular visits from Wilson, prompting a home-made wallet made out of duct tape featuring the Seahawks colors and logo. The best part of that story is actually a success in the girl’s recovery, showing a remission in the condition that was ailing her.

Russell’s past has been an amazing one as well, playing a different sport entirely as a second baseman for the Tri-City Dust Devils and the Asheville Tourists only about one year before he started his professional football career with the Seahawks. Wilson’s college skills in baseball seem to translate over to football incredibly well, becoming the first freshman quarterback to receive first team A11-ACC honors and the ACC rookie of the year in 2008 from Wisconsin. A great start for a player who seems to be well rounded and a great inspiration for the team with diehard fans.

The road to the Super Bowl win was an exciting and undeniably interesting ride, and that’s from a firsthand perspective. Looking at the tone and rate at which Russell is progressing in his career shows no signs of stopping, giving …

Trendsetters: Up and Coming Actress

Few actresses are poised for a bigger year than Dakota Johnson, the sinister vixen poised to take over the Hollywood scene when she stars in the film adaptation of the #1 Bestseller Fifty Shades of Grey. A relatively unaccomplished actress to this point, Johnson’s casting as Anastasia Steele has thrust the starlet into a limelight of epic proportions.

If Johnson seems all too comfortable in the spotlight, it should come as no surprise. Her father is Don Johnson, of Miami Vice fame, and her mother is the actress Melanie Griffith. But the spotlight hasn’t come easy for Johnson. Her biggest role before being cast in Shades was a minor role in The Social Network.

Johnson began her professional career as a model, even taking home the 2006 Miss Golden Globe award. But, she always had an eye on acting and returned to the silver screen for a number of minor roles. Eventually, she was cast in the TV sitcom Ben and Kate, but that was ended after just one season. After a few more roles in films with mild success, Johnson’s future was changed forever by one phone call.

When Johnson was cast as Steele, for what is expected to be a major box office smash, many fans of the book series were surprised, shocked, and even mad. But that won’t stop Johnson from relishing the sexy role. With a trio of best-selling books to be made into movies Dakota Johnson could very well be a household name in short time.

Being cast in Shades isn’t the same as being cast in any other blockbuster. The eroticism and sexual nature of the film means the lead actress will no doubt be required to shoot some steamy scenes. For a film going public that can’t get enough of veiled eroticism, Johnson’s role could be a groundbreaker. The allure of the sensual protagonist, Anastasia Steele, and her deviant relationship with Christian Grey will require a complicated understanding of emotion on film which could bring Johnson both popularity and critical acclaim.

Set to release in February of 2015, the next twelve months …
